You know that quote — “Everything happens for a reason.” Yeah, I’ve heard it too. Usually right after my favorite nasi padang stall runs out of rendang, or when I miss a flight only to find out it was delayed anyway. But lately, that quote hits a little different.
Life has been throwing me curveballs like it's training for Wimbledon nahhh more like training for 10K. The highs have been breathtaking — those rare moments where the stars align, my eyeliner flick is perfect, and I feel like Beyoncé on a budget. The lows? Oh, darling. Let’s just say I’ve had existential crises in the middle of a traffic jam while listening to 90s love songs. And cried over freakin chocolate for once. Don't ask.
But here’s what I’m learning: nothing is random. Not the people who came in like a thunderstorm, flipped my world upside down, then ghosted like Casper. Not the detours. Not even the silent moments that felt like life hit “pause.” There’s a weirdly poetic logic behind it all — a “Divine Plot Twist” if you will.
Some people come into your life to show you love. Others? To teach you how to block, unfollow, and protect your peace. Some experiences will break your heart just enough for the light to seep in. And sometimes, healing doesn’t look like a yoga retreat — it looks like ugly crying on the bathroom floor or perhaps while you laying on your bed and still showing up for work the next day like a functioning adult.
It’s all a mountain, really. And sometimes we climb it gracefully. Other times we slip, fall, throw a tantrum, and climb it in Birkenstock. But every stumble adds to the view from the top.
I used to see my setbacks as signs I wasn’t enough. Now, I see them as plot development. Because in the story of me, there’s drama, comedy, tears, triumph, and probably a few snacks involved. And I wouldn’t want it any other way.
So here’s to the journey. To the weird, wonderful, wildly unpredictable story we’re all still writing. And to trusting that yes — everything really does happen for a reason... even if the reason is just to give us a good story to laugh about later.
Love,
Chits!
